Inmarsat Maritime, part of Viasat, has partnered with Ingenieros Electrónicos Asociados (IEA) from Argentina to introduce NexusWave for Glaciar Pesquera. This system aims to help the fishing company improve efficiency across its fleet and enhance the well-being of its crew.

NexusWave is a fully managed, bonded multi-network service that gives Glaciar the reliability and performance it needs to handle its growing demand for data and crew connectivity. Before NexusWave, IEA had to keep a close eye on data usage, often running into extra charges. With NexusWave’s secure and unlimited high-speed service, unforeseen costs are eliminated, allowing the technical teams to concentrate on more strategic priorities.

This service boosts network speed, stability, and security while ensuring consistent data synchronization, supporting smooth operations. With reliable, high-speed connectivity, Glaciar can now seamlessly integrate its ship and shore operations. The advanced factory vessels, like the Atlantic Surf III from Mar del Plata and the Capesante from Ushuaia, operate smoothly as extensions of Glaciar’s headquarters.

NexusWave has significantly improved the everyday lives of crew members. They now have reliable access to digital services during their downtime, enabling them to stay in touch with family and friends without limits on messages, audio, photos, or videos. This not only enhances the well-being of seafarers during lengthy trips but also strengthens Glaciar’s appeal as an employer in the South American fishing industry.

Mauro Abbadie, Technical Manager at Glaciar Pesquera S.A., said: “We wanted a solution that offered flat rates and high speeds for predictable service and to aid digitalization on board. NexusWave has met our expectations perfectly. Since we started using it, we’ve had no issues; the performance has been consistently high and stable, meeting our operational and crew connectivity needs.”

Christian Troncoso, Technical Manager at Ingenieros Electrónicos Asociados S.R.L, expressed: “We are thrilled to receive such positive feedback from Glaciar Pesquera after launching Inmarsat NexusWave on their vessels. The company’s needs reflect a broader trend in the maritime sector toward predictable connectivity, and their positive initial experiences with NexusWave show how effectively this solution meets that demand.”

Jose Arias, Global Account Manager at Inmarsat Maritime, added: “Our success with Glaciar Pesquera highlights the strength of our partnership with IEA in Argentina. Their local expertise was crucial to the successful rollout of NexusWave. We’re excited to see how this solution has transformed Glaciar’s operations and crew welfare, and we look forward to working more with IEA in the future.”
