PANAMA CITY, June 19 (Reuters) – A drone strike on a Panama-flagged ship in the Black Sea resulted in the death of one crew member and injuries to two others, according to Panama's Maritime Authority (AMP) on Friday.

The attack occurred on Thursday, and one of the injured sailors is reported to be in critical condition. Despite the attack, the ship was able to maintain its course.

The AMP stated that it has "activated relevant protocols to gather official information on the incident and is in communication with the involved parties."

While the source of the drone attack has not been disclosed, the AMP has advised vessels to steer clear of Ukrainian and Russian waters in the Black Sea and the nearby Sea of Azov.

Panama boasts the "world's largest ship registry," with approximately 16% of the global merchant fleet sailing under its flag.
