Denmark Evacuates US Submarine Crew Member In Greenlandic Waters photo

NUUK, Feb 21 (Reuters) – On Saturday, Denmark’s Joint Arctic Command announced that it had evacuated a crew member from a U.S. submarine. The evacuation took place in Greenlandic waters, about seven nautical miles from Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, due to the urgent need for medical treatment.

The affected crew member was handed over to the Greenlandic health authorities and taken to a hospital in Nuuk, according to the statement from the Joint Arctic Command.

The operation was executed using a Danish Defence Seahawk helicopter.
