Damen Shipyards Group has made a deal with Aegean Tugs Shipping Company, based in Greece, for an ASD Tug 2811. Thanks to their stock-building program, Damen can offer a quick delivery for the tug.
Designed for Modern Port Operations
The ASD Tug 2811 is a standard tug measuring 28.57 meters long and 11.43 meters wide, with a bollard pull of 60 tonnes. It is compact yet powerful, making it ideal for contemporary port operations. The vessel is crafted to ensure excellent maneuverability and high efficiency.
As the vessel is already in production and close to completion, Damen plans to deliver the ASD Tug 2811 in the first quarter of next year. The delivery will occur in Kalymnos, located in the Dodecanese region of Greece, where Aegean Tugs Shipping Company is based.
Customizing the Tug
Before delivery, Damen will adjust the proven tug design to meet the client’s needs. This will involve adding FiFi 1 firefighting equipment, a towing winch, and other modifications required by the Greek flag state.
Michael Psarompas, owner and CEO of Argo SA, the parent company of Aegean Tugs Shipping Company, stated, “The ASD Tug 2811 is recognized in the market for its power, environmental standards, and exceptional handling. This next-generation tug will significantly enhance our towing and maritime support capabilities.
“We are excited to add this powerful asset to our fleet, ensuring safety and efficiency in the Greek and Mediterranean seas.”
Building Trust and Cooperation
Peter Anssems, Sales Manager at Damen, mentioned, “We appreciate Aegean Tugs Shipping Company for choosing the ASD Tug 2811 for the Greek market. This order highlights the strong trust and cooperation between our two companies. I look forward to further developing our beneficial partnership during the tug's construction and in the future.”
