Job Description

Atlas NextWave is seeking a skilled Welder to join a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) operating at London Gateway, UK.

The successful candidate will support onboard maintenance and repair operations through welding, fabrication, and metalwork. Candidates should have practical experience, a strong understanding of safe welding practices, and the ability to complete tasks to the required standard.

This is initially a six-week assignment, with the possibility of returning after leave and joining a permanent rotation schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding and metal fabrication work as required.
• Assist with repairs to metal structures, fittings, and equipment.
• Prepare materials and surfaces for welding.
• Inspect completed work and ensure it meets the required quality standards.
• Maintain welding tools and equipment in safe working condition.
• Follow appropriate hot-work procedures and permit-to-work requirements.
• Use suitable personal protective equipment and follow onboard safety rules.
• Coordinate with the engineering and maintenance teams on repair priorities.

Requirements

• Proven welding experience in a marine, industrial, or similar environment.
• Relevant welding qualifications or certificates, where applicable.
• Previous experience on vessels, dredgers, or offshore projects preferred.
• Knowledge of safe welding, fabrication, and hot-work practices.
• Ability to interpret work instructions and complete repairs accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Valid Seaman’s Book and medical fitness certificate, where applicable.
• Availability to join on 23 December 2026.
