Job Description

TOS People is seeking an experienced Captain to join an MPSV operating on standby in Las Palmas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall command, safe navigation, and operational management of the vessel. Applicants must have relevant experience on similar vessels and a strong technical understanding of diesel-electric propulsion systems.

The assignment is expected to last 2–3 months, with both joining and sign-off in Las Palmas.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall command and responsibility for the safe operation of the vessel.
• Oversee navigation, passage planning, and bridge watchkeeping.
• Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulations, STCW requirements, and company procedures.
• Supervise vessel operations, crew performance, and onboard safety.
• Coordinate standby operations and maintain the vessel's operational readiness.
• Work closely with the engineering department to ensure reliable operation of diesel-electric propulsion systems.
• Maintain vessel documentation, operational records, and safety management procedures.
• Lead emergency preparedness activities and onboard safety drills.

Requirements

• Relevant experience as a Captain / Master on MPSV or similar offshore vessels.
• Previous experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems – mandatory.
• Valid Certificate of Competency (CoC) appropriate to the position.
• Valid STCW certificates.
• Valid medical fitness certificate and other required seafarer documents, as applicable.
• Good English communication skills.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and safety-management skills.
• Availability to join ASAP.
• Ability to join and sign off in Las Palmas.
