Job Description

TOS People is recruiting a qualified and experienced Second Engineer to join an MPSV on standby in Las Palmas.

The successful candidate will assist the Chief Engineer with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the vessel's propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary machinery systems.

Applicants must have relevant engineering experience and previous experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Engineer with daily engineering operations and maintenance planning.
• Monitor and maintain diesel-electric propulsion and power-generation systems.
• Conduct routine machinery inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot technical faults and coordinate repairs.
• Monitor the performance of generators, auxiliary machinery, and other technical systems.
• Supervise assigned engine-room personnel and maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate engine-room records and maintenance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and environmental requirements.
• Support operational readiness during the vessel's standby assignment.

Requirements

• Relevant experience as a Second Engineer on MPSV or similar offshore vessels.
• Previous experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems – mandatory.
• Valid Second Engineer Certificate of Competency appropriate to the position.
• Valid STCW certificates.
• Valid medical fitness certificate and other required seafarer documents, as applicable.
• Practical knowledge of marine machinery, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance.
• Good English communication skills.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Availability to join ASAP.
• Ability to join and sign off in Las Palmas.
