Location: Europe (Netherlands)
We are currently recruiting an experienced 2nd Engineer to join a Cable Lay Vessel operating in the Netherlands.
The 2nd Engineer will be responsible for supervising daily engine room operations, maintaining propulsion and auxiliary systems, and ensuring safe and efficient vessel performance during cable installation activities.
This role is ideal for engineers with prior Cable Lay or Heavy Lift vessel experience and strong offshore operational awareness.
• Supervising engine room watchkeeping and maintenance routines
• Maintaining main engines, generators, and auxiliary systems
• Monitoring fuel, lubrication, and cooling systems
• Troubleshooting mechanical failures and coordinating repairs
• Ensuring compliance with ISM Code and HSE procedures
• Supporting vessel operations during cable lay activities
Requirements
• Proven experience as 2nd Engineer on Cable Lay or Heavy Lift vessels
• Valid STCW CoC (III/2 or relevant)
• Valid STCW certificates
• Valid Seaman’s Book and Passport
• Valid Medical Fitness Certificate
• Good command of English
• Strong safety awareness
• Ability to join for full project duration
• Ability to obtain UK & USA visas (advantage for permanent rotation)
