Job Description
Spliethoff is inviting applications from qualified and experienced seafarers for multiple positions aboard General Cargo Vessels operating in the European region.
We are seeking deck officers, engine officers, deck ratings, engine-room personnel, and catering crew with relevant qualifications and experience for their respective positions.
Candidates should hold valid maritime certificates and documentation appropriate to the rank applied for and be prepared to work as part of a professional vessel crew.

Catering Department
Key Responsibilities
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
Deck Officers
- Assist with safe vessel navigation, passage planning, and watchkeeping according to the assigned rank.
- Supervise or support deck operations, cargo handling, and maintenance activities.
- Maintain navigational, safety, and operational records as required.
- Ensure compliance with onboard safety procedures and applicable maritime regulations.
Deck Ratings
- Perform routine deck maintenance, cleaning, and preservation.
- Assist with mooring, anchoring, cargo operations, and other deck duties.
- Maintain deck equipment and lifesaving appliances.
- Carry out assigned duties under the supervision of deck officers.
Engine Officers
- Operate, monitor, and maintain main engines, auxiliary machinery, and associated systems.
- Conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Maintain engineering records and report machinery defects.
- Ensure safe and efficient engine-room operations.
Fitter / Wiper
- Assist with machinery maintenance, mechanical repairs, and workshop activities as required.
- Support routine inspections, lubrication, and engine-room housekeeping.
- Follow instructions from engineering officers and comply with onboard safety procedures.
Catering Crew
- Prepare meals for officers and crew in accordance with onboard requirements.
- Maintain food hygiene, galley cleanliness, and safe food-storage practices.
- Manage provisions and support efficient catering operations.
- Assist with meal preparation and galley duties according to the assigned position.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in the position applied for.
- Valid Certificate of Competency (CoC), Certificate of Proficiency (COP), or other professional qualifications applicable to the position.
- Valid STCW certificates relevant to the rank.
- Valid Seaman's Book and medical fitness certificate, where applicable.
- Previous General Cargo Vessel experience preferred.
- Good command of English and effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of onboard safety procedures and applicable maritime requirements.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an international crew.
- For combined positions, appropriate experience and skills in both assigned roles.
