A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) announced today that it has chosen Charlotte as its official North America headquarters. The company plans to add over 500 jobs to its current workforce in Charlotte, increasing the total to more than 1,300 positions in the upcoming years. Maersk has had a presence in Charlotte for more than 20 years and has owned its current office space in South Charlotte since 2006.

Maersk selected Charlotte for its North American headquarters due to the area's affordability, growing talent pool, and high quality of life. The new headquarters will support essential corporate functions such as finance, human resources, commercial strategy, and technology.

“We have significantly expanded and changed our North American business and workforce as we aim to become a comprehensive logistics partner for our customers. As we looked ahead, we recognized that having an official North American headquarters would help us serve our customers better and create a workplace where everyone can thrive. Over the past two decades, we’ve built strong relationships and a solid foundation in Charlotte. We’re excited to strengthen our ties to this vibrant community and to the North America region,” said Charles van der Steene, President of the North America Region at Maersk.
